Susan Branch’s calendars are an annual part of my life. My mom turned me on to her books and calendars. I started to buy the calendar every year, and I also buy one for my mom. Just like taking a sedative when I fly, I need to have my Susan Branch calendar every year.
Here is her 2012 calendar on my wall:
Here is the front of her 2013 calendar:
Every New Year’s Day I transfer all the birthdays from the old year into the new year.
After I’m done transferring the info, I sit and read the 2012 calendar.
I received a gift card from Barnes & Noble, and saw a cute Susan Branch Recipe Notebook Organizer, so I bought it! Here is my old notebook of recipes that I use the most:
And here is the new lovely Susan Branch notebook:
Be sure to check out Susan Branch’s website and blog. She is so talented in many ways: an excellent cook, writer, and artist. And on top of all of that, she is so sweet and classy. I met her at her book signing in New Jersey and she signed all of my Susan Branch books for me. I felt like such a groupie.
Well, I am a Susan Branch groupie.
Happy New Year to Susan Branch and Happy New Year to you wonderful readers of my blog. xoxo
What is this exciting photo, you may be asking yourself? Well, it’s what I look at when I get out of my car in the Barnes and Noble parking lot in Wisconsin. The condition of parking lots are similar in parking lots throughout Wisconsin. You can faintly see the yellow parking line. But since you can’t see the whole line, it’s a big free for all when it comes to parking in lots.
Create your own space!
That’s what I did when I went to the bank today, and I saw that other cars followed suit. I parked like a rebel, and other cars parked like I did, because they didn’t know I had parked like a rebel.
The snow gets hard and forms ice, and it freezes over night, and when you park, you have to walk with your head jutting out, or you will fall on your ass. The parking lots are like an ice skating rink. Falling on the ice is my least favorite thing to do. When you are young, you can handle falling many times per year on your ass, tail bone, elbow, head. But when you get older, it really sucks to fall.
I have been out of town – in Malibu, which isn’t so bad! Haven’t been posting as much because my schedule has been erratic. We were supposed to go back to Wisconsin on Wednesday and couldn’t get back because of the weather “state of emergency” that Wisconsin was under. We are hopefully flying back to Wisconsin tomorrow, through Cleveland. Wish us luck.
I was driving in Van Nuys and saw this mannequin on the back of a car. Not sure what it means but I was glad I was able to take a photo of it. I hope it’s not offensive, cuz I don’t know what it’s about.
“By implementing the practice of love and compassion, we will naturally live a non-violent way of life. Helping others and not harming them is the work of non-violence. We need to develop love, compassion and forgiveness to develop inner peace and that naturally gives rise to non-violent conduct.”
